ALYOF - August goal half completed

My goal for August was to make a couple of skirts and maybe a dress. I managed one skirt. I have started the other in a similar fashion to this one.

It is a simple A line skirt and I used Melly's tutorial in drafting the measurements of the skirt.  The band is just jersey rib, the back is a textured knit and the front 2 cotton fabrics. The bottom band is a fabric I picked up from goodness knows where but goes with the skirt perfectly.

It is the middle of winter in NZ with a freezing wind today so you will have to excuse the "I'm trying to smile, but I'm freezing my tits off, so hurry up and take the darn photo" look.

ALYOF - August goal

This month's goal is not quilting related, but involves garment sewing instead. I desperately need some new skirts and dresses to take with me when I go to NYC and Hawaii next month. I have had the fabric sitting around for a couple of months now and if I set a goal, then it will get done. If I don't, then I may be walking around nude!

As you can see I struggle to grab myself away from blues and greens! I am hoping to make 2 skirts and a dress from these fabrics. Two skirts at least anyway.

ALYOF - July goal completed

So my goal for this month was to complete my Aeroplane bag which has been on my to do list for a year now.   It was a great pattern to follow....good diagrams, easy to understand text and it looks fantastic.

I used a Melody Miller print for the main part of the bag, a Kona solid for the bottom and the straps are made with Simply Color by V and Co and blend perfectly with the green on the pot handle.

For the inside I chose a neutral fabric as I figured no-one was going to be looking in it except me anyway...

Cant wait to use this when I go away in September.
